General handling of Trailers

Driving with a trailer is not that easy and safety measures are to be observed at all times. Make sure that your truck and your trailer are on the right condition and checked before you drive off the road. Here are some safety tips when driving a trailer.

1.       Check your truck and trailer before going off the road
Since we’re going for a ride, checking the truck and the trailer is the first step when it comes to safety.
2.       Drive at a moderate speed
·         Driving your trailer and your truck off the road needs to be on a moderate speed. Moderate speed gives you control on the trailer and avoid unwanted accidents. Also, driving moderately saves you gasoline over time.
Moderation on speed will put less strain on your trailer or tow vehicle.
3.       Take it slow when it comes to bumpy roads
·         If we are traveling and we encounter bumpy or rocky roads, always make sure that you slow down. It will help your trailer maintain its balance and avoid falling down.
Brakes
1.       Check your brakes
·         Road accidents sometimes happen when your brakes are defective and not working. Always make sure to check your brakes before heading out.
2.       Anticipate timing when slowing down
·         If we are to stop, make sure to anticipate the right timing to slow down because it gives you more control of your trailer. Reduce the speed by shifting to a lower gear and gently press your brakes.
·         Consider also the best distance to use your brakes
Other Tips to Remember
Always Check the Weather and Road Conditions
·         Driving on different weather conditions can be rough and we need to be ready when driving a trailer. If the weather conditions are bad, it’s better to re-schedule your trip.
·         When driving on hot or warm days, it’s better to stay in low gear and avoiding uphill roads to avoid engine overheating
·         Rainy or snowy days can be dangerous. Always check on your brakes and lights to avoid accidents. Be sure to drive your trailer on slow pace.

·         Before heading out, make sure to know the traffic and road conditions to apply countermeasures and route change to your destinations.

Trailer Essentials Part 2

Trailer Brake System
For our next article, we’re going to discuss the brake system of the trailer. Here’s what  you should know!

In any type of vehicle, the brake system is considered as a very important component. With this in mind, it is important to note that even trailers need to have a reliable break system especially as it is frequently used to haul cargo. But what are the common brake system installed in trailers, let’s find out.

There are two kinds of brake system usually installed in trailers, namely drum and disc brakes. The common and most reliable for now is the drum brake. Drum brakes have been tried and tested since the early years of automotive. It can also be installed in trailers. Between the two brake system options, drum brakes are also more affordable than the disc brake. However, the downside of drum brakes is the maintenance.

Disc brakes are more expensive up front, why? As trailer experts, we can say that disk brakes are easier and more affordable to maintain in the long run. It is also becoming widely more popular among trailer owners. Through custom modification, we can replace the drum brake in most braking system.  We have come across a growing number of trailer owners’ switch to disc brakes because of quite a few advantages over the drum brake. This includes more powerful stopping power, less maintenance (fewer parts) and more resistant to fading during a descent.

As reliable custom trailer makers in Melbourne, we encourage trailer owners to get regular brake checkups, ideally every 6 months to 1 year of usage especially those who are using their trailers almost every day for work and hauling purposes. We also perform trailer repairs in Melbourne. If you need any Trailer Alterations, repairs or you are looking to embark on a trailer customisation project, please don’t hesitate to contact Titan Engineering for a free quote and we’ll see you on our next blog series!

Trailer Essentials Part 1

To keep your trailer going, you need to check and maintain your trailer once in a while. Today, we’re going to give you some tips on how to properly check and maintain your trailer. First off, we’re going to start with Tyre pressure and Wheel bearing grease. Checking your trailer’s tyre pressure and wheel bearing should be part of your regular trailer maintenance to keep it running well.

Tyre Pressure

Tip: Always check your tyre pressure before you drive with your trailer.
Insufficient tyre pressure can cause your trailer tyres to blow out, so it is essential to check this before going out with your trailer, especially with heavy loads. You should always check your manufacturer’s specifications for the correct tyre pressure. The pressure will vary according to the load.  Essentially, the heavier the load, the more tyre pressure is needed.  A good quality pressure gauge can be invaluable to assist you to determine your tyre pressure before you hit the road.
Tip: High pressure racing gauges are typically more accurate. Also, you may need a compressor to inflate your tyres. Spare tyres are also important for trailers.  If you do get a flat tyre you are stuck without one.
Uneven weight distribution of your load inside the trailer can also cause issues for the tyres. Each tyre has their own gross rating and a maximum weight it can handle. Uneven load distribution can cause a single tyre to underperform if it is bearing a heavier load than the others. This can also cause accidents like fishtailing.

Wheel Bearing Grease

Dirty wheel bearings can cause friction and wear. It is important for trailer owners to clean their wheel bearings and apply grease as often as every month, depending on how much you use your trailer. Lubrication lets the trailer move smoothly and prevents friction, which causes heat. It is better to check the amount of grease before you go out with your trailer.
Also, choosing the right grease is important for trailer owners. Check the manufacturer’s manual to determine the best grease to use.

It is important to maintain your trailer to keep it in good shape and able to perform its functions.   If you need some assistance, call us at Titan Engineering. We have the tools and the experience to attend to all your trailer needs. We’ll see you on our next blog series.

Box Trailer Maintenance

Owning a box trailer is not easy as other people think especially if you are looking for the right kind of trailer to use. Depending on the different types of trailer such as cargo trailer, boat trailer, motorcycle trailer, machinery trailer, etc. you need to be sure that the trailer you purchase will suit all your needs.
There are so many trailer manufacturers in the market, as a buyer, you might be confused as to the type of trailer you choose. We have provided a guide to help you pick the trailer that suits your preferences.
·         Before making any trips, you need to ensure that the trailer and the vehicle are made for the road meaning that the tyres are properly inflated, check the trailer bearings, suspensions and brakes. Also make sure to check that your vehicle lights are working as well as the safety chain.
·         In every trip, make sure that the coupling and load is tightly secured and that the tyres are inflated and not rubbing on the bodywork and suspension.
·         Make sure the paint does not coat the hinges especially inside as well as the coupling. It is recommended that you spray WD40 on these sections. WD40 is used to prevent metals from rusting and protects against moisture and other rusted parts.
·         Make sure to check the plugs and wiring on your trailer to make sure that the lights are working in order.
·         Double check to make sure that your tyres are in good condition rims and the wheel nuts are bolted properly and tightly.
·         Drive according to the road conditions.
·         You need to operate the vehicle and trailer based on the road rules and legal traffic requirements.
·         Make sure that the trailer can carry the load and road conditions make sure it is equipped with the road you are travelling plus your load weight.
·         Make sure that the safety chains and light leads are not dragging on the road while moving, keep them tight and secure for the road travel.
·         Check to make sure that the jockey wheels, gates and ramps are secured and stashed for travel.
·         On every trip, double-check your lights if they are working properly especially if you are travelling at night.
·         Don’t overload your trailer.
·         Do not drive when tired or sleepy to prevent any road accidents.
·         Do not drive under the influence of any alcohol or drugs.
·         Keep driving within the speed limit of the vehicle or towing vehicle.
·         Never leave your towing vehicle unattended.

We highly recommend that you maintain your trailer at least every 6 months or have it checked for problems.

Tradesman Trailer

There is some point in time when a tradesman does need something bigger than a toolbox. As a tradesman, a tool box doesn’t deliver the options and space for the expanding list of projects around town and space for additional and heavier equipment. Additionally, a versatile craftsman always seeks to offer a flexible service where productivity isn’t affected by limitations in space or capacity. In other words, we need room to conduct more business and driving back to the workshop getting a certain tool is time consuming. A single toolbox that has wheels, drawers, shelves where we can put our equipment is a better choice. Tradesman trailers are built to answer that issue. Built with heavy-duty steel, we design products that are made to carry and protect your equipment. Numerous split level racks to deliver extra storage options and that handy provision to load up larger gear and hit the road with tools.

A tradesman trailer is roadworthy and a great investment. A tradesman can hook it to the rear of a vehicle and driven to a designated worksite. A single-axle configuration is the most common model found on some trailer workshops but rare examples of double-axle models are around. The increase in when offers more stability when carrying heavy load and jouncing along roads with higher speed limits. Other small businesses stick with single-axle trailers stocking the supported storage area with bounty of tools. The important thing is that trailers should have solid suspension, good tyres, disc brakes and regulation vehicle lights.

A heavy duty designed trailers relies on strength coupled with versatile storage. Security of tools is taken cared by locking handles and protection from elements is provided by close fitting seals and enameled panels that defeat dampness. The trailer should also be equipped with racks that lock tools and materials in place. The same racks should have the carrying capacity and tensile strength to transport metal sheeting, ladders, compressors and other oversized tools.
A tradesman trailer provides a level of convenience for a tradesman. Make sure that you don’t forget to service the trailer to keep it ticking along and protecting your tools with ease. Visit us at Titan Engineering today!

Caged Trailers

A caged trailer that is uniquely fabricated to hold cargo while still allowing an owner easy access. These trailer are usually designed high-sided and traditionally open-topped. This means oversized cargo can be added on the trailer with ease. The mesh sides can also be used to further strap down items so that they don’t move while driving with the trailer. The open top makes a popular choice for businesses like landscaping. For instances, shrubs and small trees can be loaded at the caged trailer, open to the air and they are towed easily. Others use the trailer to put inside machinery or tools that can’t be transported without an open top when it comes to trailers.

These custom made trailers are perfect for any type of use. Our previous clients are in the business of transporting goods from one place to another. These trailers are rugged but exposed, versatile but rigid, making our caged trailers a powerful tool for dozen of application. For others, they rent caged trailers to transport their household appliances and furniture from different places.

The mode of operation usually entails either lowering or pivoting the rear mesh panel downward. This panel receives additional reinforcement, turning the lowered section into an angular ramp. Use the ramp to load the trailer, lifting it back into place afterward. Look for a sturdy build when shopping for caged trailers. The common sizes found for rental and purchase are defined by their length and width, but inspect the height of the meshed walls for rigidity. Dimensions vary through 7 x 4 feet, 8 x 5 feet, and larger sizes will likely opt for a switch from single-axis to double-axis manufacture, complete with mechanical suspension, brakes, and heavy-duty wheels capable of absorbing light impact on varying road surfaces.

Carrying tall loads or shifting garden waste, moving house or just building a small business, users need caged trailers to manage all kinds of load transportation projects.

Designing Tilt Trailers that are Efficient and Safe

Our customized Tilt Trailers offers a fascinating mix of fully loaded features and simple loading. Our aim is to get the load up the angled tail with the edge of minimum fuss. The center of gravity of the trailer aids in this movement since hydraulic tilting isn’t typically feature in this type of trailer. These trailer is built as a general purpose trailer or designed to accommodate heavy loads. The dipping angle where trailer edge meets ground is critical in manufacturing the right tilt deck for the right purpose. A series of knife edged tails installed over the grounded edge of the trailer will ease any transitional movement as the load wheels upward. A custom wielded flatbed section of wide, durable steel then hold the mass of the cargo.

The Stability and the safety of the transported cargo is important. Again, this is where we customize the trailer to eliminate hazardous issues. Heavy graded steel is what we use for decking when heavy loads are part of the design specifications and indented metal is added to the deck to stop wheeled cargo from shifting (ex. Machinery). The steel tread plate also acts as an additional grip when the load is being wheeled up the tilted surface. Additional anti-slip textures and gritty coatings are sprayed or added into the deck for the cargo. Movement is usually caused by rain, ice, leakages, etc inside the trailer.

The density of the steel decking couples supports struts and surfaces covering to ensure the weight of the cargo on the tilt trailer. Additional to that is we install an addition of a minimal hydraulic system rounds on the trailer. A single hydraulic piston and small reservoir can be employed to cushion the tilt. It is a passive system but it could prevent injury if there are tilt trailers repairs or mechanism slips. The integration of radial tyres and frame design that promotes low deck height implementation is sure to reduce stress and strain when loading expensive and weighty equipment.

Thus far we’ve covered weight distribution on an anti-slip surface, tightly knit support struts supporting a steel deck, and mechanisms dedicated to easing the transition from the ground to the deck, but it’s time to focus on actual towing scenarios. An adjustable coupler is the bridge between the towing engine and the tilt trailer, a mechanism that, if customized, is altered to lend the coupling added strength and height versatility. It’s the linchpin of the operation. Coming a close second, is combinations for braking and suspension. Weight is the contributing factor here, but the terrain being navigated also plays a significant role in the smoothness of a trip. Check out options for air brakes and drum brakes, for hydraulic suspension or spring suspension, discussing maximum weight to be carried and the type of road the vehicle is bouncing along.

Tips on Getting an Off-Road Trailer

People will always look for adventure and the best way to do that is having outdoor activities like camping, hiking, trekking and biking. Usually, vehicles lacks space when travelling or going off-road. That’s why it is convenient to rent or even buy your own personal off-road box trailer. And if you are planning to buy one, here are some tips you should remember.

Wheel and Axle
It is important for a box trailer to have the perfect wheels in order for it to be effective across the off-road terrain. And our recommendation is to have larger wheels. Why? Larger wheels ensures the base of your trailer are raised during the trip and likely to bump into terrain. It also reduces the chances of accidents while off-road.
We also need the trailer to have heavy duty axle when going off-road. Standard axles that are installed on trailers has more potential to break because of the off-road terrain, you wouldn’t like to be fixing your trailer in the middle of nowhere, don’t we?

Springs
When it comes to trailers, shackle springs are also to be checked. These springs helps with the weight distribution of the load when traveling off-road.

Metal Plating
An off-road box trailer is subjected into challenging terrain and can potentially damage your trailer during the process. Galvanised frame protects your trailer from these kinds of damages like scratches from rocks or trees and reduce the potential of rust buildup within your trailer.

Side Height
Off-road terrain guarantees a bumpy ride, thus subjects your load into lots of movements. To prevent the load from falling while travelling, we need to ensure that our sides are high enough to prevent your load from being lost as well as protecting your loads from outside forces.

If you are looking for someone who can help you with your off-road box trailers, call us immediate at Titan Engineering.

Buying Box Trailers

Having a box trailer can be a great help whether for personal or for running your business. They can be used to transport almost anything, from furniture to camping gear without taking too much space inside your vehicle. But before you take the next step in buying your own box trailer, there are things you should consider to ensure the safety and efficiency of the trailer.

Secondhand Box Trailers
Trailers can last for years if they are maintained and looked after and if you are thinking about short term savings, buying a secondhand box trailer would be an option. But like cars, trailers are also susceptible to damage and wear and we need regular maintenance to keep up with performance and longevity.
The advantage of buying a new one however is you can have it customised and the warranty and services provided by the manufacturer.

Important Specifications

There are several specifications to be considered when buying box trailers.  These include ATM, Payload and towing capacity.
ATM or aggregated trailer mass, is the total weight of the trailer and load when not hitched to a vehicle. It indicates the maximum weight the trailer should weigh when in use.  You need to know what it is you are going to be carrying and what it weighs to determine your required ATM.
Payload is calculated by taking the weight of the trailer (tare weight) and subtracting it from the ATM.
Towing capacity is usually found in the manufacturer’s handbook. This will tell you how much your vehicle can tow, and if you need brakes installed and any speed restrictions applicable to your vehicle when towing.

Braking System
Depending on the payload you want to carry and the towing capacity of your vehicle, you may need to have brakes installed in the box trailer.  If you are looking to carry a small payload and your vehicle has high towing capacity, you may be able to invest in a box trailer without brakes installed, potentially with 750 kg of ATM. But if you want to carry a high payload then brakes will be essential.  Discuss this with your manufacturer to ensure that your trailer will meet your needs safely.

Aluminum Trailers or Steel Trailers

When it comes to materials in building trailers, steel and aluminum are the best choices. For years, steel is the primary choice in building trailers. However, steel can rust over a couple of years which resulted trailer manufacturers looking for alternatives and many are using aluminum as their main material. Today, we’re going to compare both materials and what suits your trailer best.
Strength
In terms of strength, what metal is stronger? Steel is one of the toughest material and can sustain a lot of stress when driving long distances or on bumpy roads. Steel trailers believe that aluminum can’t handle these kinds of condition well.
Aluminum is commonly used for foils or cans. However aluminum used in trailers is different, this alloy has about the same yield strength as steel and contains 95 percent aluminum and the other 5 percent consists of copper, chromium, zinc and titanium.
Payload
Technically, steel is stronger when driving the payload on long drives and bumpy roads. But, since the material is heavier than aluminum, payload needs to be kept to a reasonable level in order for the trailer to move.
Aluminum on the other hand can carry heavy loads because of its light weight. It has a higher payload capacity than steel.
Repair and Maintenance
Steel is considered easier to repair than aluminum, making steel easier and cheaper to fix. Working with steel trailers is generally less expensive. On the other hand, preventing rust on steel trailers is quite difficult.  Some use a protective layer of zinc to reduce the corrosion. Adding a coat of paint can help improve your protection too.

Aluminum has also its perks though. Aluminum doesn’t rust or corrode like steel. But for maintenance, aluminum trailers need lubrication on hinges and cam latches. For cosmetic purposes, you may also need to give an acid bath every couple of years to clean the exterior.

Custom Trailer Brakes

When it comes to vehicles, having a reliable brake system is very important. With that in mind, trailers also needs to have a reliable brake system as per what kind of cargo it hauls. But what are the common brake system installed inside your trailer? Let’s find out!

There are two kinds of brake system usually installed on trailers; the disc brake and the drum brake. The common and most reliable for now is the drum brake. Drum brakes have been tried and tested since the early years of automotive. It can also be installed in trailers. Between the two brake system options, drum brakes are also more affordable than the disc brake. However, the downside of drum brakes is the maintenance.

As for disc brakes, it is more expensive. Why? As trailer experts, disc brakes are easier and more affordable to maintain in the long run. Also, it is becoming quite popular among trailer owners. Through modification, we can also replace your old drum brake system. Due to its advantages, we have come across with several trailer owners wanting to change or install this kind of braking system. This includes more stopping power, less maintenance and more resistant to fading during a decent.

With our experience as custom trailer makers in Melbourne, we recommend you to get your trailers checked every 6 months to 1 year especially those who use their trailer for work and hauling purposes. Check-ups would determine the problems of your trailer or would pin-point what part would be for maintenance. This would prevent your trailer from having unwanted breakdowns or unnecessary repairs that can cost much. We also perform trailer alterations or customization and repairs for your trailers. Buying a Second Hand Trailer

We often look for secondhand goods instead of buying a brand new one to save money. Buying secondhand has its advantages and just like trailers, we need some tips to follow in order to get our money’s worth.

Wooden Floorboards
Many secondhand trailers are equipped with wooden floorboards and if not maintained properly, they are susceptible to rot and decay. The last thing you want on while traveling is your load falling throughout the floor.

Aluminum Floors
Unlike wooden floorboards, aluminum can suffer from rust and deterioration if not maintained properly. Don’t forget the condition of the cross members under the floor. This provides the integrity of the trailer, so any signs of corrosion are a cause of concern.

Tyres
The condition of the tyres is also important when buying a secondhand trailer. Tyres can provide information about the trailer. Uneven tyre wear can mean a bent axle which could be serious problems. Incorrect tyres can also affect the trailer which results in accidents when you’re on the road.

Brakes
Another thing you should consider is the braking wiring. Have the trailer hooked up to a towing vehicle so you can see that the light indicators are working properly. Connect the trailer and the towing vehicle to ensure the compatibility of both ends.

Dents
The external parts should be free of serious dents. Some wear and tear is inevitable when on the road. Lookout for small pinholes and crumbling powder around and outside the trailer as this is a sign of aluminum corrosion.

Rust and Cracks
Rust and cracks are easy to spot but make sure that the hitch mechanism is free of rust and cracks.
If you are not sure with the trailer you are buying, make sure to hire a mechanic or someone who’s an expert when it comes to trailers. Make sure that you ask about the history of the trailer from the previous owners and if they have a record of the maintenance routine of the trailer.

What to Consider when Buying a Car Trailer

There are factors you should consider if you’re going to buy a car trailer. It is highly recommended that you seek for a trailer specialist for advice and search for online stores.

1.       Buy Better Quality Products
Top quality products can cost more but more durable and will last longer compared to cheaper products. Along with quality, you need to check the features and see if it is a good fit for your purpose. Make a wise investment when you buy a car trailer so there won’t be any regrets later on.

2.       Check the Car Trailer
Before buying anything, it is always wise to do an examination of the car trailer. Make sure to listen throughout the explanation and take pictures of every angle of the car trailer. If you are buying second hand trailer, make sure to take note of all the maintenance and repair routine of the trailer, make sure to check the records and compile them.

3.       Consider Buying Local
Buying from local manufacturers is a great move and they are easy to deal with. When it comes to maintenance, adding features, finding parts and replacement is also easy. Dealing with manufacturers is optional but not practical and definitely a hassle.

4.       A Valid Title
To own a car trailer, you need to have a valid title. Having a title is required, so no matter what if you buy a ready-made or custom car trailer, you need a title to be issued as it could land you into trouble if you don’t have one.

It is important to know the purpose of getting a car trailer either for personal or business use. Impulsive buying can result into regret. Consider these factors before you purchase a car trailer today. Visit us at Titan Engineering!

What are Customized Machinery Trailer?

Speaking in engineering terms, machine customization defines the purpose of a machine or extends that purpose. In the case of machinery trailers, that customization process accounts for the dimensions of heavy machinery, the loads that are expected to be transported, and the terrain the trailer will be crossing.

In order to accommodate these design factors, the platform of the trailer has to be fabricated to match customer specifications. Heavy machinery will require high-tensile steel sheets and spring-assisted ramps to shift a load that has to overcome its own inertia. Custom manufactured support struts and cross-beams accompany the steel, augmenting the structure at key stress points. Axles and wheels match this design outline, providing base transport worthiness during the transport of machinery. Consequently, braking requirements must incorporate a design that can stop the trailer safely and in a timely fashion. Air brakes and double electric brakes fulfill this requirement, balancing the momentum of an accelerating payload with reliable stopping power.

The dual obstacle of consignment weight and terrain coverage is handled with the aforementioned axle design and the width or type of wheels fitted to the trailer, but the true cushioning comes from a robust suspension mechanism. Mechanical suspension is standard on machinery trailers carrying smaller cargo, but longer variants turn to pneumatic suspension, opting for air cushioning that can prevent build-ups of vibration on heavy loads. These vibrations and a possible shift of the large mass during a wide turn will affect steering, a more than reasonable rationale for opting to customize the trailer with a superior suspension mechanism. Returning to more compact trailers, the workhorses that relay machinery from work site to work depot, such trailers transport machinery every day, and they will succumb to wear and tear unless they’re fabricated from durable metals. Start with a rugged base, a graded steel that is resistant to corrosion and the stress of heavy loads. Add a polyurethane coating to further dismiss the effects of the weather and cancel out abrasive scratching.

A customized machinery trailer solution delivers the best in equipment moving and heavyweight vehicle transportation, but this work ethic is nothing without the input of the customer. Specify the purpose of the trailer, the size and weight of a typical consignment. Add other factors, the terrain the towing vehicle is navigating, the mileage being covered each day, and receive a trailer with optimal support characteristics and the perfect suspension configuration.

How to Properly Secure Motor Vehicles in Trailers

Transporting your motorbikes or motor vehicles with a trailer is hard and sometimes if not loaded properly, accidents can happen. In order to take proper care of your vehicle while in transporting them inside your trailers, here are some basic guidelines to follow to make sure they are secure and safe.
·         Before towing, you need to check that you trailer is in good shape mechanically. This means that you have to make sure they work during turn signals, it has enough tail lights, it is well-lubricated in the wheel bearings, tyres are inflated enough and in good condition.
·         Make sure that you have enough insurance coverage in the event of an accident or theft.
·         When loading and unloading, try getting people to help you to make things safer and easier.
·         Make sure you use a long ramp that is about 7 ft long to avoid any damages to your oil filter and other components especially with motorbikes as you bring them inside the trailer.  This is important for those trailers with no beavertail or a sloping back end.
·         When loading, position them a bit forward of the center to make sure you keep most of the weight on the hitch. Do not load anything heavy in the rear as it can cause things to sway when transporting.
·         Make sure the motorbike’s front wheel is secured so it cannot make any turns during transporting.
·         Attach soft straps to the motorbike’s sturdy section of the frame and make sure the anchor points of these straps are at a 45 degree angle. These soft straps help in protecting the bike from being scratched during the move.
·         It is recommended to use ratchet-type tie-downs to increase the tension in the motorbike suspension and keep them upright and stable as these suspensions absorb the shock.
·         Tie the rear of the motorbike by attaching the straps to the frame, passenger hand grips and/or the passenger foot pegs.
·         If stopping by for the night, secure your trailer from any theft using fork locks, brake locks as well as locks on the rear door of your box trailer.

Following these tips will surely help you with in loading your box trailer. Are you still not contented with your trailer’s capabilities? We at Titan Engineering will help you customise and build your trailer the way you want. Visit or contact us today!

Why are Custom Trailers Better?

Customization of items according to your preferences is better. Having your trailer customised is no different and would be a great investment on your part especially if you want your trailer to be designed is a specific way.

When you have a trailer designed to fit your specific needs it’s going to last longer, because it’s built for the wear and tear from the things that you intend to use it for. Whether you need an enclosed car trailer, a custom car hauler, a race-car trailer, a stock trailer or a trailer customized to fit another need having a custom-made means a longer lifespan of the merchandise. It is an investment that just makes sense.

There is no reason to settle for less than you deserve or need. While it may be a little more initially, it saves you more in the long run. Plus, if you’re hauling heavy or large loads having a trailer customized for this is the safer option. Now that is priceless. Whatever your needs are having a trailer custom-made is really the option that always comes out better in the end.

When you have a trailer fully customized it is individually built to meet your exact specifications. This is a trailer that is built tough, and it’s going to meet your demand. You make the call, you can choose the design and materials for durability. You’re the one in charge of this project, so it fits your needs exactly.

The entire process is more affordable than you think. I’d rather pick a pricey custom built trailer over a factory built trailer that has lower cost. Why? Because you don’t have to change anything from a custom built trailer. All the things that you need are present inside that trailer and will meet all your demands when it comes to hauling.

Having a trailer custom-made for you is just as easy as a few clicks of the mouse or a phone call. You can easily have a team working on your own trailer in no time, and again, it’s far more affordable than you may think. When we say customized, we mean full customization right down to the lighting and cabinetry. So, what are you waiting for? Get your trailer customize today at Titan Engineering!

Qualities of a Good Custom Trailer

Hauling objects from one place to another can be a lot easier using a trailer and if you’re planning to get one, you need to learn the qualities of a good custom trailer. Today, we’ll give you some pointers on what to look for.
1.       Trailer Strength
It is important to consider this when buying a custom trailer. You want to ensure that the trailer you are buying is designed to carry not just the weight of your heaviest load, but physical characteristics of the load, each type of load you need to move and the weight distribution of the load.

2.       Stability
Why do you see some trailer wobble? This is mainly due to instability issues. An unstable trailer increases the risk of injuries and accidents as well as damage to the load itself. When it comes to custom trailer stability, different factors are needed to be considered like load distribution, brakes and COG or center of gravity. Consider going to an experienced custom trailer manufacturer who knows these kinds of factors.

3.       Versatility
If you are hauling different kinds of products, you need your trailer to be versatile as possible. Let your manufacturer know what kinds of products you are hauling. Identifying these would maximise flexibility. Knowing this would help your manufacturer on what additional features to add inside and outside your trailer.

4.       Quality
There’s no point in going to all the effort of considering all your uses and designing the most useful trailer for your needs if the quality of materials and workmanship won’t last. Make sure that your manufacturer are not using cheap materials or doing unprofessional workmanship. You want your trailer to be able to withstand all the load stress and the distance it will travel without breaking down.

Getting the Best Enclosed Trailer

Planning to buy an enclosed trailer? Then knowing the right specifications is the first step in getting your very own enclosed trailer. Enclosed trailer comes in different sizes and configurations. It provides protection for your precious cargo and you can be outfitted with different accessories ranging from shelving, flooring, rings, tie-down and more.
Here are some guidelines to help you choose the right enclosed trailer:
1.       Purpose
You won’t just buy a trailer without knowing its purpose. Knowing the purpose of your trailer would influence the size and the options you need. For example, if you are a handyman, you might need a 5 foot axle trailer for your tools and materials. You can also add accessories like a ramp door or maybe some tread plates.
2.       Budget
After determining the purpose of your trailer, you need to set your budget. You want to be sure that you’re getting quality workmanship and the best materials used for your trailer. Make sure you’re not paying for options and accessories that aren’t needed.
3.       Cargo
What type of cargo will you be hauling? Knowing the cargo will influence the interior of your trailer. For example, you’re a landscaper or a handyman, you might need custom racks and shelves for organising tools, supplies and material. Some modifications are lighting and built-in work area for other types of cargo.
4.       Distance

How far will you travel with your trailer? If you’re going to use your trailer locally, then choosing the standard exterior options would be fine. But if your job is to travel across the country for your job, then you’ll want to think about purchasing upgrades that can enhance the safety of your trailer such as mounted spare tyre, stabilizers and tie-downs, LED lights, etc. You can also add a small sleeping quarters inside your trailer.

What Makes a Good Cargo Trailer?

There are many ways to design a cargo trailer depending on the needs, goals and desires of the owner. As your dependable custom trailer manufacturer, we’ll give you some insights into what makes a good cargo trailer.
Type
What type of trailer are you looking for? This factor should be the first on your list when building a cargo trailer. Are you looking for an open, enclosed, landscaping, motorcycle, ATV, equipment, machinery or horse trailer? Are you looking for a trailer that has dual purposes? These things should be kept in mind when determining exactly what you need it to do.
Pull Type
What pull type do you prefer? A bumper pull, gooseneck, 5th wheel or pintle?
Height
Considering the height when customising your trailer is important. Will you need to stand up inside? Do you have tall equipment to put inside? Take some time to do some measurements before you design your trailer. This way, you could save a lot of space and money. Also, don’t forget to think about storage – will you park it inside a garage or will it stay outside? Make sure it will  fit into any space required.
Length
Just like height, length should also be measured properly. Take your time to consider the things you will put inside your trailer. Extra length means more difficulty in maneuvering, and additional construction cost, so don’t add extra length unnecessarily.
Generator
You may need power inside your trailer. Generators can be integrated into your trailer with some thought to ensure they do not unnecessarily limit it’s use.
Living Quarters
If you are doing long hauls you may also want to consider including some space for sleeping while off road.
